Val Kilmer is a well-known American actor who has starred in many films over the years. However, in recent years Kilmer has been in the news for a different reason – he has been struggling with a health issue that has caused him to lose his voice. So what exactly is wrong with Kilmer, and why has his voice been affected?

Kilmer first started having problems with his voice in 2015. At the time, he was performing in a play in New York, and he started to notice that his voice was becoming hoarse and that it was getting harder and harder to speak. He initially thought that the problem was just due to stress from performing, but as time went on it became clear that there was something more serious going on.

In 2016, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer. The cancer was found in his tonsils, and it was determined that it was likely the result of HPV (human papillomavirus), a virus that can cause cancer. Kilmer underwent surgery to remove his tonsils, and he also underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatment.

However, the cancer treatments ended up causing even more damage to Kilmer’s voice. His throat was left severely scarred, and as a result he has been struggling to speak ever since. Kilmer has said that his voice is now "almost gone", and he has had to rely on a voice box to help him speak.

It is unclear if Kilmer will ever regain his full voice, but he is currently doing his best to cope with the situation. He has said that he is "taking it one day at a time", and he is grateful for the support of his friends and family.
